Genesis

Our ceremonial hapé comes directly from the Huni Kuin Tribe, renowned for its deep commitment to spiritual well-being. Mapacho plants, along with the other sacred blends, are organically grown in the rainforest. These timeless blends carry the wisdom of generations, lovingly passed down to preserve their authenticity and spiritual essence. While there are many Huni Kuin tribes in Acre, not all hapé is crafted with pure intentions and imbued with authentic healing energy. At Shaman Hape Tribe, we hold ourselves to the highest standards, ensuring both the material and spiritual integrity of every creation.

The art of this hape is deeply rooted in the sacred traditions of the Huni Kuin Tribe. Their process is a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and spirituality, enriched by chanting and singing that infuse each creation with life and intention.

The healing power of this hapé emerges not only from the skill of its makers but also from the spiritual well-being of the individuals and the collective energy of the group as well as the time and environment.

Sananga medicine has been used by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon for thousands of years. Traditionally, it is applied before hunting, as it sharpens vision, enhances focus, and clears lingering stagnant energies from the body and mind.

Among the Shanenawa people of the Brazilian Amazon, the Sananga ceremony is a sacred moment of purification and alignment with the spirit of nature. It is performed with prayer, intention, and deep respect for the plant, which is considered a living teacher.

The ritual begins with a prayer to the forest and to the ancestors, asking permission to work with the medicine. The space is prepared with calm and presence, often in nature or near a fire, to honor the spirit of the plant and create harmony among all participants.

The Sananga medicine, made from the roots of the Tabernaemontana undulata plant, is freshly prepared by the Shanenawa healers. It is always handled with reverence, as they believe its spirit carries the strength of the forest and the wisdom of their ancestors.

When ready, the healer gently applies a few drops of Sananga into each eye. The moment of application brings a strong burning sensation, which is understood as the medicine entering deeply — cleansing the eyes, mind, and energy field. Participants are encouraged to stay still, breathe, and focus their thoughts on what they wish to release or bring clarity to.

As the intensity softens, the body relaxes and a profound sense of peace and clarity follows. The vision may feel sharper, the heart lighter, and the mind calmer. For the Shanenawa, this process symbolizes seeing with truth, both outwardly and inwardly, reconnecting the person to nature and to their own spirit.

The Sananga ceremony is not only for healing the eyes, but for renewing energy, restoring focus, and bringing harmony to the body and soul. It is a sacred gift from the forest, reminding all who receive it that true vision begins within.
